Gelato (Ice Cream)

What could be better to recover from the extreme heat and find refreshment than a nice ice cream?
The origins of ice cream date back to the 2000 BC century. in China, and then it was also used in Arab countries. But the real modern ice cream that we all know and that we consume today was invented in Italy and precisely in Sicily and then exported all over the world.
Clearly we are talking about the real ice cream, that is the artisanal one that has no rivals compared to the industrial one, both for the quality and freshness of its ingredients, both for the flavor, and for the minimum content of fats and air.
Its main ingredients include milk, sugar, egg white, but also cocoa, cream and fruit, which are mixed to create a cream.

Initially, it was served in special trays and only in 1904, in New York, was a crispy cone-shaped waffle used for the first time.
There are many flavours of ice cream existing today and certainly, among the most eaten we can say that there are: Stracciatella, Hazelnut, Cream, Zabaione, Zuppa Inglese, Pistachio, Chocolate, Lemon, Strawberry, Melon, Coconut, Coffee, Vanilla, Yogurt, Fiordilatte, Mint, Kiss, Berries, Watermelon, Banana, Green Apple, Kinder, Gianduia, White Chocolate, Black Cherry, Tiramisu, Crem Caramel, Panna Cotta, Kiwi, Marron Glace, Torrone, Limoncello.

In the past years, there was a variant of ice cream called Spumone, born in Naples and which developed throughout the south of Italy, formed by layers of ice cream with almonds, pieces of dark chocolate and caramel inside, and which today it can only be found in the Puglia region where it has become a typical local dessert.
Today there is even a festival in honour of ice cream, where the best ice cream makers in the world are nominated and awarded, and the ice cream word tour where the greatest compete against each other, creating the best and most original flavours.
